I've just tried setting up my keyboard as a controller and it works fine in Feisty - no reason it shouldn't work in if you want to try pSX instead (IMHO a much better Playstation emulator than ePSXe or PCSX), check the 'pSX for AMD64/i386' link in dfreer's sig for help and links to his own repository for installing it on a 64 bit I can't figure out here why your system won't run pSX more happily but, as dfreer says, why not post your problem in the pSX forums ()? That's where all the pSX people are. Since a keyboard is a digital device (on/off switches), you won't be able to use it as an analog controller, obviously. I don't know about ePSXe, but in pSX, you need to set 'Device' to 'None' and 'Type' to 'SCPH-1010: Normal pad' on the controller tab to use your keyboard as a controller. I'll post some screenshots once I get ePSXe to cooperate and take questions/requests from anyone interested in this small piece of Chrono Cross history.This is, I think, the first time you've said anything about having to use your keyboard rather than a controller. Also, at the time I received this disc there was a small piece of the data layer missing that has only gotten worse with time, so there may be areas of the game disc that will not load as a result.įrom my preliminary mucking around, this seems to have everything in the first disc proper up to the concert with Nikki (roughly 500 maps worth of game play), but then again I don't really remember where the first disc ended. As such I'm not sure how much interesting "beta" material is in this build. The entire disc is in English so this is definitely a beta of the NTSC release.
The 7 debug rooms all exist in this beta and are all translated into English (with the exception of one of the rooms that seems to be completely corrupted). What I can tell you is that I only have the first disc of this and that debug is enabled by default. It has been many, many years since I've played Chrono Cross and I badly lack the ability to distinguish beta from retail, yet alone even remember most of the game's details.
The Odd/even bit hack needs to be set in Special Game Fixes - you'll find this in Pete's graphics plugin configurations, not sure if other graphics plugins have it but the need for it may be limited to Pete's plugins as well. I've had this beta for a few years now and I'd like to share some info about it for those curious. Edit: ePSXe will play Chrono Cross perfectly well, but needs a couple of settings.

A site dedicated to the Chrono series that still gets updated in 2012 while Square has deprived the world of any sequels for over a decade would probably thing just a tiny bit interesting. I have searched around the internet to see what community might be interested in this and I've found it.
